Owens Valley is located east of the snow-covered Sierra Nevada mountains and west of Death Valley, the Inyo Mountains and the White Mountains. Scenic highway US-395 traverses this area for 150 miles from Lone Pine to Bridgeport, California. The mountains on either side, including Mount Whitney, reach up to 14,000 feet above sea level. With the floor of the valley at approximately 4000 feet, this is the deepest valley in the US. It provides a great variety of photographic opportunities.
