The Colorado National Monument highcountry rises over 2,000 feet above the Grand Valley of the Colorado River on the western edge of Colorado. This is an area of semi-desert land high on the Colorado Plateau with pinion and juniper forests on the plateau. The park features spectacular canyons cut deep into sandstone.
